With more than 20 years of experience in public involvement and community planning, Joan is an expert in public outreach strategies and facilitation, community involvement, funding and collaborative land use planning. She is a highly skilled facilitator and is often called on to serve as a neutral third-party facilitating large-scale community meetings about controversial issues and projects. Joan has worked with rural, suburban and urban communities throughout the state to design and facilitate outreach strategies that engage community members in developing a future vision for their community, identifying and evaluating alternatives, discussing contentious issues and creating processes that support long and short-term goals. She has a niche skill in implementing multilingual public involvement programs for rural transportation planning initiatives. She is also skilled developing parks and recreation master plans and strategic plans and related community involvement strategies.
