Carie DeRuiter is an award-winning creative director and designer whose work can be seen in a wide array of formats and environments across the country - from park interpretive signage in Washington State and comprehensive plan branding in San Antonio to wayfinding in Renton, Washington and social marketing for street safety in San Francisco. She began her career typesetting for the University of California Press, and her pursuit of the visual expression of stories led her to graphic design. She got her first Macintosh in 1986, and her work has evolved and expanded with the technology ever since. Carie's work encompasses multiple sectors, including transportation, health and safety, energy and resource conservation, and urban design and planning. The diversity and range of her experience enables her to take seemingly standard approaches and apply them in new ways. She works closely with clients to define communications strategies and to design and deliver creative that is best suited to the project at hand. Under her leadership, MIG's in-house creative agency strategizes, conceptualizes, designs, and produces every form of communications media, including print, photography, audio, video, web, and social. Carie and her team have collaborated with hundreds of public, private, and nonprofit clients to increase awareness and build support for programs and initiatives that advance the public good.

Carie is Director of Communications and Media Services.
