The projects typically involve multiple jurisdictions, agency partners, and a community that wants to participate in transportation planning processes. In the form of a community planning grant from Caltrans, MIG works with such geographically diverse communities such as San Luis Obispo and Chalfant, a 500-person community in Miono County. By using visioning exercises, developing guiding principles, identifying potential areas of concern and possible solutions, MIG assists CalTrans with decisions regarding road and safety improvements, access management, and traffic calming projects.
