Astor East Revised Urban Renewal Plan

With three of Astoria’s most important institutions (college, school district, and hospital)directly interested in the Astor East site, the City faced a planning and design dilemma. MIG facilitated a stakeholder-driven approach involving the college, the school district, and the hospital, as well as the Development Commission and City government. Central to this approach was a three-day charrette, or interactive design and planning session. Based on the charrette's results, the MIG Team proposed and evaluated alternatives and developed a preferred alternative. Master planning for a community college campus is now underway.
