In 2004, Sacramento County began updating its General Plan. MIG joined the project in 2006 to lead a comprehensive public involvement campaign involving newsletters, community workshops with innovative multi-lingual activities, educational guides, and an interactive web game to engage residents in discussions about countywide growth management strategies. Over 600 people attended the workshops, and the interactive web game engaged additional residents. The process won the California Chapter of the American Planning Association’s 2007 Award for Planning Implementation in a Large Jurisdiction.
