State Routes 20 and 70 Streetscape Improvement Plan
City of Marysville, California
Building on MIG’s successful completion of the Downtown Marysville Strategic Plan in 2004, the firm was selected to provide urban design services to improve to two of Maryville’s busiest corridors: E Street (State Route 70) and 9th Street (State Route 20). As truck routes, the two corridors are among the busiest in the region and support over 55,000 vehicles per day. The Caltrans-funded project addresses a wide range of challenges, including poor overall access; unsafe conditions for pedestrians, bicyclists and school-going children; and noise and air quality issues. To ensure that improvements support community needs, MIG conducted three community workshops, as well as meetings with various stakeholders and community activists, including Caltrans, business leaders, school authorities, county officials and elected officials.
