MTC Transit Connectivity Study

As part of a larger team, MIG assisted the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in conducting a Regional Transit Connectivity Study to identify and implement ways to improve the connectivity between the Bay Area’s many transit systems. This three-part study of customer experience began with focus groups of regular multi-modal transit users, held at five different “prototypical” transit hubs. All participants used 2-3 forms of transit regularly to get to their destination. Next, non-transit users were asked to plan and complete specific trips, recording their experiences in a “trip diary,” and debrief the experience in a focus group. Finally, focus groups with a mix of frequent, infrequent and non-transit users were held to specifically evaluate transit information and signage options and address the most effective ways to provide information to transit users.
