Dixieanne Avenue Green Street Plan

City of Sacramento, Sacramento, California

American Public Works Association (APWA) Transportation Project of the Year Award, 2009

MIG led a team of urban designers, landscape architects, transportation planners and civil engineers to design and create construction documents for the first “Green Street” in Sacramento. Envisioned by the community as the “main street” of Dixieanne Neighborhood, the Green Street minimizes urban runoff through the use of stormwater planters, bioswales, pervious paving and a context sensitive planting palette. MIG worked with the City, neighborhood, and individual property owners in order to create a streetscape amenity that has become a great source of community pride and identity. Construction was completed in September 2009 and earned the American Public Works Association (APWA) 2009 Transportation Project of the Year Award.
