City funding for parks and programming had not kept pace with Medford’s rapid population growth, leaving poorly maintained and aging facilities, unserved areas, and underserved demographic groups (particularly youth and seniors). MIG created three funding options for the City to support high profile, program-supporting projects, such as the development of the Medford Sports Park, the renovation of the Santo Community Center, the development of several school parks, and key projects to expand use at urban and community parks.
