Southern California Environmental Justice Analysis and Community Outreach Study

Riverside County Transportation Commission, Southern California, California

The Environmental Justice Analysis and Community Outreach Study represented a partnership of multiple Southern California transportation and regional planning agencies. The Study aimed (a) to expand the region’s understanding of goods movement impacts on communities of concern, and (b) to identify strategies to address these impacts and maintain or enhance quality-of-life, all while supporting the expansion of goods movement. These strategies were encompassed in a unique “toolkit” document designed for all stakeholders including public agencies, private industry, and community members.

  • The toolkit provides practical, easy-to-understand data and strategies
  • The process integrated best practices analysis with community-based experiences
  • Three Community Feedback Groups provided first-hand, community-based experiences
  • Analysis of EJ communities near freight facilities focused outreach efforts
