MIG designed the landscape and planting plans for the Davis Commons—a new retail development in Davis, California—to create a flexible, vibrant public space. To ensure that the plan was properly implemented, MIG prepared the construction documents, supervised the landscape construction and also collaborated with the project architect on the site layout. Key features of the plaza design include a continuous courtyard with seating space for restaurants and retail shops; colored concrete seat walls; a large hackberry tree shading the outdoor courtyard and a central green; bike parking throughout the site; and colorful water-conserving plantings.
