Davis Central Park
City of Davis, Davis, California
MIG facilitated the participatory design process and developed a master plan for Central Park, one of the most politically charged pieces of property in Davis, California. MIG defused conflict about the park's expansion and built consensus around a new master plan that transformed the park into an active social center. The revitalized Central Park provides opportunities for a variety of user groups, making the park a center of community life. Davis Central Park was awarded a Centennial Medallion by ASLA in 1999, the Ahwahnee Award from the Local Governments Commission with AIA & APA, and was recognized as an outstanding community park in research by the Urban Institute, NYC.
