Glendale Edison School - Pacific Park

MIG designed and developed the master plan and construction documents for a joint use school and park in Glendale, California. This facility was conceived to replace and augment the existing Edison Elementary School. MIG developed the community participation program and neighborhood workshops to identify community goals. Based on these goals, MIG created the site plans and designed the outdoor spaces, successfully addressing the unique challenges involved in designing shared use facilities by clearly delineating responsibility and insuring school security while maintaining connection to the community and circulation among activities. The outdoor space includes a school playground that blends into and “shares” a multi-purpose field, an amphitheater, outdoor classrooms, and a natural learning area.
