Hollister General Plan

The City of Hollister is surrounded by prime agricultural land and it is interested in maintaining its rural character, which makes it difficult to target new areas for development to adjust for its large growth over the past 10 years. MIG worked with the City and a General Plan Steering Committee to update the General Plan in a way that would help guide change in Hollister in accordance with the community’s vision. MIG led a series of public workshops to identify residents’ vision for Hollister and developed land use alternatives and General Plan policies to support it. The document balanced the need for growth with a desire for open space and agricultural preservation, and offered strategies to stimulate Downtown Hollister.
