Kern County Blueprint
Kern Council of Governments, Stanislaus/Kern County, California
MIG is assisting the Kern Council of Governments with a public participation program designed to build awareness about the region’s growth and how it should be managed, as well as to initiate coordinated planning at the local, regional and state levels. The project considers a range of issues including transportation, land use, water, air quality, and environmental resources. MIG conducted town hall meetings throughout the region that emphasized interactive, hands-on exercises—combining open, small group discussions with structured “games” to educate participants about regional planning topics and engage them in developing priorities for balancing and managing approaches, trade-offs and priorities.
