Northeast Line Light Rail Stations Transit-Oriented Development
City of Sacramento, Sacramento, California
Using a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) model to concentrate development in and around transit hubs, MIG developed the Northeast Line Light Rail Stations Plan to transform underutilized and disconnected North Sacramento into a livable, walkable and vital neighborhood. The Plan is a long-range, urban design/streetscape plan and infrastructure needs analysis that guides improvements in around three light rail stations. MIG developed an overall vision for the stations, analyzed existing opportunities and challenges, developed land use and urban design strategies, and prepared development guidelines, as well as detailed recommendations for catalytic site development and implementation. MIG led an extensive stakeholder and public participation process to create consensus around a shared vision for the overall area and a distinctive character for each station area.
