U.S. Army Child Development Centers Standard Designs for Outdoor Play Areas
United States Army, Washington, District of Columbia
MIG developed a series of childcare center prototypes for the largest employer-provider of childcare in the world—the U.S. Army. MIG created Standard Definitive Designs for each of the seven types of Army Child Development Centers (CDC’s). These minimum standards support the developmental program for each age group served at the CDC’s. The designs are based on the educational philosophy, the program of activities, and the management goals of the Centers. Each design accommodates children with and without disabilities in an integrated play setting. After finishing the Standard Designs, MIG developed and adapted the standards to specific sites at CDC’s in the U.S. and Europe. In addition, MIG provided comprehensive design services, including Concept Design, Design Development, complete Construction Documentation, and Construction Review.
