MIG, in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and other community organizations, led the effort to implement the benefit assessment outreach plan. Activities included stakeholder discussions, public workshops, a series of ‘blue ribbon’ forums with key business and community leaders and a variety of print and multi-media public information materials in two languages. As a result, the District’s Flood Protection and Stream Stewardship Program—designed to help alleviate severe flooding—received voter approval to renew the needed benefit assessment.
