Bakersfield Recreation and Parks Master Plan

MIG prepared a Comprehensive Master Plan that assessed existing park and recreation facilities and programs in Bakersfield, California, and provided strategies to better serve the future recreational needs of Bakersfield residents. The Plan includes a demand and needs analysis, general policy guidelines, fiscal analysis, and recommendations for implementation. To guide the design of new parks, MIG developed criteria to ensure that the parks are accessible, include the proper recreational amenities, and meet maintenance budget limits. MIG also developed a range of recommendations and action items to meet future sports field demands, reduce maintenance costs and improve service, enhance park programs and activities, and identify sources of future funding, financing, and revenue.
