Associate/ Senior Biologist
We are seeking a mid- to senior-level biologist to join our biology group that works as a team on many different types of projects throughout California. In addition to biological resource evaluations and biological assessments, we prepare wetland delineations and permit applications, population studies, habitat management plans, and mitigation plans. We conduct both construction and mitigation monitoring related to special-status species and habitat restoration.
Candidates should have prepared technical biological reports, including biological resource assessments and impact analyses for CEQA/NEPA documents and state and federal permits. The ideal candidate has developed expertise with one or more special-status species or sensitive ecosystems. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of California flora and fauna, be able to map vegetation communities, know the pertinent laws/regulations, be able to identify sensitive habitat types, and be a competent writer. Additional desirable experience includes proficiency with GIS mapping/analysis, wetland delineation and functional assessment, conservation planning, endangered species survey/handling, interagency coordination and permitting, project and client management, and proposal preparation.
Minimum requirements are a Master’s degree in biology, ecology, natural resources, or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in such a field with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience. Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required. This position requires an independent worker who also enjoys working in a team environment
