Passionate. Imaginative. Engaged. We are seeking a multi-talented, entry- to mid-level Landscape Designer. This position requires innovative and creative thinking to participate in a wide range of projects including reimagining streets, creating children’s play and learning environments, and designing public spaces that engage people of all ages. Our work is regionally based throughout Southern California with a focus on San Diego. The Landscape Designer will support Project Managers and project teams in preparing visioning, conceptual and preliminary design drawings, design development and construction documents.

Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate independent judgment, personal organization, excellent communication skills and an ability to make decisions, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively as part of a project team. Specific requirements include abilities to:

  • Prepare preliminary design, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates
  • Develop presentation graphics to support project design, presentations in PowerPoint, and to the public
  • Maintain records, prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program
  • 0–3 years full-time work experience
  • Thorough understanding and use of technology for design and construction drawings
  • Strong design skills and excellent writing abilities
  • Knowledge and expertise in AutoCAD, the Adobe Suite (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), GIS, and 3D modeling, such as Sketch-Up
  • Strong hand graphics
  • Graphic Portfolio based on professional development
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with community participation is highly desirable
