The Jelly and the Ray, and 10,000 More!
Visitors to the only major aquarium in the Province can wind their way through 10,000 fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and marine mammals from all over the world. The huge site (almost 40 acres) has indoor and outdoor areas, water games, picnic areas and an illuminated evening walk.
The Aquarium’s new master plan will guide the future of this growing facility. The vision: the exciting environments and exhibits will transform visitors as they discover, understand and value the sensitivity of aquatic species and their habitats. And as a result, they will be personally empowered to protect marine and freshwater resources for future generations.
A new 7,000 sf expansion to the aquarium houses exhibits for jellyfish and rays. The jellyfish exhibit features lighting and music effects that highlight the natural beauty of these graceful creatures. Visitors explore a darkened space lit only with the dancing light of the jellies, and weave between cylindrical display tanks as the color of light changes. The new ray touch tank lets visitors touch and feed friendly and exotic rays in a controlled environment.
