Hing Hay Park Study Now Online
Jeff Hou, a landscape architecture professor at the University of Washington, in collaboration with the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority and the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, just released the Hing Hay Park Post-Occupancy Evaluation, showing the impacts of the recent MIG-led renovation of this urban Seattle park.
The results: a whopping 97% of people like the improvements, citing a wide variety of uses and seating options, as well as the spatial design that allows gathering spaces for different uses. The improvements have activated all areas of the park, which has also improved people’s sense of safety. Interviewees also commended the community engagement process that led to the new park design.
