Jamillah Jordan Selected as Culture of Health Fellowship Program!

Culture of Health Leaders is a three-year program in leadership skills development, including coaching from national leaders in change management, health equity, and social innovation.  In the third year of the program, participants implement a strategic Culture of Health initiative in a chosen community.  Jamillah will be part of a national group of leaders spanning a range of sectors and disciplines -- a community that will persist beyond the fellowship period and continue to seed positive change.

This is a highly competitive process -- 39 individuals were chosen from a pool of over 750 applicants -- and jurors clearly were impressed with Jamillah's statement of purpose, which said in part:

"My vision for a Culture of Health leverages the power of planning to create thriving ecosystems of change. My strategy involves advancing a significant paradigm shift by placing power and resources in the hands of community members —particularly people of color— to seed sustainable transformation. I believe that building inclusive and equitable communities requires collaboration across a broad range of sectors and disciplines to achieve collective impact. However, it’s essential to amplify solutions developed by frontline and grassroots communities most impacted by the complex forces of racism and discrimination."

This recognition and the opportunities for growth and leadership are logical extensions of what we have come to know about Jamillah:  she is a fierce advocate, a voice for inclusion and respect, a convener and facilitator extraordinaire, and a champion for equity and cultural humility.

Congratulations from your MIG community, Jamillah Jordan!  We are very proud of you and look forward to hearing about this transformative experience!
