Calvin Abe (FASLA, RLA) is noted for his ability to transform conceptual design ideas into creative and artful built forms. He begins each project as an exploration of how the site is ecologically connected to the larger network of natural lands, open spaces and other landscapes. He enjoys working closely with consulting architects and designers to formulate innovative and technically sound ideas. Calvin has more than 30 years of professional experience in a wide range of landscape architectural and urban design projects, mainly in Southern California, where he founded and led the highly respected firm AHBE Landscape Architects for 33 years.
In addition to his practice, Calvin has lectured and taught, and has served as a visiting critic for landscape architecture programs at Southern California's colleges. He participates in a wide range of professional organizations as a member, conference speaker, and board executive. Calvin is also an artist—he’s currently exploring photography as a medium for seeing the beauty in landscape and the world.
