Brice Maryman on Homelessness in the City

After the trauma of homelessness, what does the public realm offer? What do we do about homelessness in the city? In this “Ignite” talk, part of the Seattle Times’ Project Homeless, Brice offers three concepts:

  • Introduce yourself to someone who is homeless. Ask their name; tell them yours. Do that often.
  • Concentrate on economically inclusive spaces.
  • Use all of our land to bring people closer together (rights of way, surplus, back yards)

If you have just a few more minutes, Brice's presentation at the Landscape Architecture Foundation Innovation and Leadership Symposium last year offers more details and solutions for urban homelessness, a built environment crisis.
