ORPA Award for Tualatin Parks & Rec

The City of Tualatin and MIG were awarded Oregon Recreation and Parks Association’s 2019 Planning Award for the Tualatin Parks & Recreation Master Plan. The City was so thrilled they made a video!

The award recognizes outstanding planning practices that have a lasting effect on the park system, community and built social capital. Specifically, ORPA recognized the plan for its innovative techniques, diverse community involvement, community and partner support, funding solutions and incorporation of capital projects, operations and maintenance strategies. The City adopted the Plan in fall 2018, along with a new Systems Development Charge methodology and rate in early 2019, which will provide funding to implement key plan recommendations.

The project was led by MIG Principal Lauren Schmitt and MIG Director of Parks and Recreation Cindy Mendoza, working in collaboration with Ross Hoover and Rich Mueller from the City of Tualatin Parks and Recreation Department.
