Sustaining Parks for the Future
A growing City has transitioned from expanding its parks system to sustaining it as a long-term community asset. Three linked plans include a Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan; Recreation Plan; and ADA Self-Assessment and Transition Plan. Each element builds on the prior, to guide long-term capital, operations and programming decisions with a holistic viewpoint. Key to success was multilayered community outreach that specifically targeted harder-to-reach communities including young adults, renters and the area’s growing Latino population.
