Can an entire neighborhood switch to renewable (non-fossil fuel) energy, becoming healthier and more resilient? Residents of a block in East Oakland, California, have been working on a way to do just that: EcoBlock. And MIG is creating a guidebook and toolkit so other communities can transform their own neighborhoods.

We are seeking an experienced entry-to-mid-level Project Associate to join our Cultural Places planning and design team of professionals. MIG’s offices are currently working in a hybrid format. However, the person in this position must be located near one of our established offices for in-person meetings and team collaboration, though a schedule may be complemented by hybrid remote work if desired.

Laurie Matthews Elected to ASLA Council of Fellows

Lauded for “pushing the boundaries of cultural landscape analysis and planning,” Laurie Matthews was nominated and elected to the Council of Fellows by her ASLA peers for Leadership Management. She's MIG’s Director of Preservation Planning and Design and is fascinated by the complexities and stories associated with landscapes and the history they reveal. Her work is guided by the principle that landscape preservation requires managing not halting change; requiring integrating cultural landscape thinking into historic preservation practice.
